Christopher McGuire BIO: Born from a musical family, the son of a singer and an organ player. Spent the first year of his life on tour with his parents. Later became bongo-boy of John Kogge and the Lonesome Strangers. Played with 12RODS for a long time, then quit. Joined Kid Dakota and recorded "So Pretty" and "the West is the Future" to critical acclaim. Then for unknown reason moved to Japan for almost 2 years. Played every possible venue in Japan with great and powerful rock band named Quruli. Got really homesick. Returned to Minneapolis. Resumed duties with Kid Dakota.

Tons of teaching experience out of music stores, house calls and out of my studio.

I have students "all up in" America as well as Japan and Europe.

My students tell me I have a knack for assessing their abilities and focusing on what will immediately help them with their playing.

I don't teach strictly out of books, although I do work from three where the first 5 pages are excellent for making your drumming stronger.

At each lesson I offer my students handwritten exercises and a extensive song list of tunes and albums that will apply and inspire.

I have studied with and have been affected by: Jim Goodall (Medicine), Keith Mitchell (Mazzy Star), Hunt Sales (David Bowie, Tin Machine), Rick Flynn (the Three of us), Jendeen Forberg (the Wolverines), Todd Trainer (Shellac of North America), Cliff Almond (session great), Tim O'Reagan (the Jayhawks), Michael Bland (Prince), Jerry Bellion (the Newspaper Taxis), Pete Riley (Lizard 99), Matt Hergert (the Love Cowboys), Ryan Olcott (Slaughter House of Love), Kathryn White (June Sunday). I feel as though my drum seed would be nothing without the help and inspirations from these fine drummers.
